Anticyclone Trio - Beffroi (2020)

In 2014, after ten years of good and creative service, Frédéric Cavallin ended his collaboration with Pulcinella. At the time, the aficionados had remained completely baba and all that made a big splash in the pink city. Fortunately, the succession was successfully ensured by Pierre Pollet. As for Frédéric Cavallin, he was already sailing to other musical skies, notably joining Anticyclone, initially a duet between Charlène Moura and Marek Kastelnik. In doing so, Cavallin did not fall into the rank of well-ordered things. He signed again for a fantastic universe of bazaar and facetious creations, all in the service of a completely unbridled imagination.

The trio first released Climate Jazz, a first album released in very few copies which was above all a great business card for canvassing festivals and other programmers. Not stopping there, they then released Dérèglement, a larger format disc which they enrich today with Beffroi, a last album where these three ball poets revisit - once again - the weather forecast with a lined with instruments, narrative motifs and an evocative power that must be emphasized and re-emphasized. Because Anticyclone functions like a pocket theater. Without actor, without scenario, without decoration, the music tells us stories, certainly of weather but not only. These three are indeed activists of the human thing - Charlène Moura and Marek Kastelnik come from Uzeste where they made their artistic classes with Bernard Lubat - and you have to see and hear them with their mismatched costumes, these troubadours who walk their instrumental tales.

Belfry is in line with previous recordings. A disc which is similar to a collection of surrealist poems which, depending on your mood and from your deck, will bring in the sun, rain, clouds or thunderstorm as you wish. It is both surprising and exceptionally generous since, by breaking codes and standards, Anticyclone invites us to grasp, by reinventing it, the reality that suits us.
