Calm - By Your Side (Mellow Mellow Acid Versions & Remixes) (2019)

The complete collection of remixes of Calm’s album is now presented on a special CD/digital release that, rather pleasingly, repackages the remixes in the same order as the original tracks. The likes of Mark Barrott, Yuri Shulgin, Gallo, Calm himself, Lucas Croon, Cantoma and more all feature.

First up is the Mark Barrott mix of 'Space Is My Place'. It’s an exotic feeling track with a watery current, and then comes J-Walk, who has just put out a fantastic album of leftfield downtempo on Wonderfulsound. His remix of ‘Afterglow and First Star’ has astral synths and leads that will have you gazing skyward, before Yuri Shulgin then steps up with the gorgeous ambient awakening that is his take on ‘Ending Summer Beginning Autumn.’

Label homie Gallo gets long legged on his deep-cut remix of ‘Sky Color Passing’ and after the twinkling melodies and scattered drums of My Friend Dario’s remix of ‘Shadows and Lights’ is Calm’s own acid laced interpretation of ‘Mellow Mellow Sadness'.

Alex Vincent is in reflective mood as he drowns you in lush pads and sustained chords on his remix of ’Shade of Tree’ and the always masterful Lucas Croon’s take on ‘Before Landing’ is a gentle rush of rave euphoria with its old school breakbeats and glowing pads.

Mind Fair’s remix sinks you into a slow motion house gem before balearic bossman Phil Mison becomes Cantoma for a version of ‘You Can See The Sunrise Again’ that has bright blue skies and jaunty chords making you move.

This is a varied and vital packages of remixes that not only provides plenty of heat for DJs, but also works as a fantastic standalone album.
