Mr. Pinnacle started singing as a youth in his church, and loved gospel music but after being exposed to the music of Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, and Alton Ellis, he knew he wanted to become part of the reggae scene. As a teenager, Pinnacle began singing on sound systems dancehalls, where he would share the mic of Stereograph Sound with the likes of Admiral Bailey, Josey Wales and Shabba Ranks in Olympic Way jamaica. Some of the other sounds that have honed his style included Love Bunch, Roots Melody, Turbo Charge, Jack Ruby, and Tommy Phonic Sound, along with Shaggy Wonder. Mr. Pinnacle was also influenced by the R&B music that his cousin Nelson would play at home, spinning songs of the great Al Greene, Percy Sledge, Otis Reading, Michael Jackson and others. “I would try to sing and sound like them,” says Mr. Pinnacle. His first recording was made at Grove Music Studio in Ocho Rios, released as “What They Learn” under the name Disco D and featuring Copper Ranks. Several other releases followed before Mr. Pinnacle migrated to South Florida. He got his first break there when he met producer/musician Dr. Paul. This collaboration led to his first official track under the name Mr. Pinnacle - a Christmas song called “Pinnacle Party”, also others followed “Gideon”, “Real Thing” and the chart topper “Missing You”, which landed on WLRN’s “Sounds of the Caribbean” Top 10 chart where it held the #1 spot for seven weeks.
