Speaking of Blues Rock, most people will surely be the first names like Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout or the (well ...) Blues Pills. But the fact that there is much more going on in this genre is demonstrated by the Australians VDELLI, who moved to Germany last year.
The long-time companion of the percussion Ric Whittle, who was always a highlight of the show at the LIveshows through his dynamic jazz style, had not come along. He stayed in Perth on the other half of the world globe. His successor comes from Hamburg and is called Hajo Schüler. He has a decent punch and, together with bass player Leigh Miller, takes over the Backingvocals. Michael Vdelli convinces besides his energetic guitar playing by neatly scratchy soul in his voice. This may come from the many gigs of the band, which is constantly on tour or plays under other names (The Heavy Hitters - acoustic, Shake'n Bake - pure blues program) in clubs or elsewhere. Vdelli released their first album in Australia in 1997. With lots of fun and blues. The first European release "Is not Brining Me Down" was released in 2008. Over time the band got a bit harder. "Out of the Sun", which will surely also provide a lot of live entertainment with the impetuous opener "Get up, get on it" The following title track comes as a somewhat alternative melodic therefore. It is interesting to see "The Things That I do", where Michael Vdelli vocally goes to new heights and reminds a little of Bon Scott. Cool groovy hard rocker! Trailer Vdellis will be happy that there is now a student tour of "Noel burnt the kitchen down". It is an older piece that has long been part of the band's program. Michael Vdelli wrote this very rhythmic number together with Ric Whittle. Just like the hard "New Town", which was already on "Live On Fire" disc to be heard. A very creaky bass characterizes the song. In the relaxed bluesy "It's not all about you" the slide guitar comes into play. Reminds me of ZZ Top. Leigh Miller plays the lead vocals with the driving "Rock Out". With "High Ground Made", one of the most interesting pieces is at the end of the disc. At first, very melodic, three-voice singing creates a kind of hippie atmosphere before the very aggressive middle section provides clarity. Oh, a number has to be mentioned: "Addicted to Everything" already appeared on one of the Australian releases and convinces with a fat AC / DC hit side.
