Inspiring, soothing urban folk with gorgeous vocals and fabulous, enlivening instrumentation. A must if you want to be uplifted. Produced by Julie Wolf, keyboard player with Indigo Girls, Ani DiFranco, Carly Simon, and Bruce Cockburn.
"The songs on the CD are not overtly Buddhist, though they were born within my spiritual practice (20+ years of meditation and Buddhist study). For instance, the title track 'SimpleTruth' is based on my own experience in learning what unconditional self acceptance feels like. 'Given to You' is a celebration of the present moment. 'Goddess Decided' is about having trust in our strong challenging feelings.
We are also re-recording a number of songs I wrote during my time with the trio Rebecca Riots. 'Gardener' is about how our intentions can shape our experience. 'Cemetery' reflects using an understanding of impermanence to love more fully. The anthem 'Women’s Bodies' moves past toxic conditioning about what makes female bodies more ‘beautiful’, instead seeing the beauty in ourselves as we are.?"
