It’s been six years since Yan Higa gave us Sylum, their debut long-form EP, what some might call an album, built around a complex lore and wrapped in the lingering loneliness of the pandemic.
Poda arrives as a warm-up to their debut album. Years of restless experimentation as Yvu, collaborations with genre-defying artists, international touring, and running Acta have allowed Higa to shape a generous body of work worthy of following Sylum.
“Rhythmic Alt-Pop” might be one synthetic way of describing the percussive sound of Poda, but its many layers are left for each listener to peel.
The EP expands Yan Higa’s musical language further into the universe of Pop Music.
