French tuba player Thomas Leleu, winner of a Victoire de la Musique Classique, releases his new album NIGHT CELEBRATION — a bold experiment on the borders of pop, jazz, soul and disco, in which the tuba takes the lead as a solo instrument rather than a background orchestral voice. All 12 tracks are original compositions by the musician himself, alternating instrumental pieces with vocal collaborations, built on memorable melodies, danceable rhythms and modern production.
The guests include the American-French jazz singer and songwriter China Moses, the rappers Barry Moore and Le Môme, and the French mezzo-soprano Catherine Trottmann. This line-up brings jazz, hip-hop and operatic voice together in a single project.
The album’s concept is one night and twelve stories. Night is understood as the time when feelings are released and intensified, and everything seems truer and more intimate. Each track is a separate facet of that experience, leaving the listener room for their own memories. The result is a vibrant, festive and deeply personal album that takes the tuba off the beaten path and places it at the heart of pop music.
