RAJASONIC is a collaboration between the French rock guitarist Yarol Poupaud — a founding member of FFF and former musical director for Johnny Hallyday — and the Indian musicians Rahis Bharti and the ensemble DHOAD (Gypsies of Rajasthan), regarded as cultural ambassadors of Rajasthan. They met by chance in August 2023 at the Festival of World Cultures in Confolens, and a bond formed at once, rooted in friendship and a shared wish to exchange music across cultures. The meeting grew into a series of concerts in India — in Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Delhi — and then into studio work on shared material. The project’s music combines rock guitar riffs and funk grooves with traditional instruments — tabla, dholak and harmonium — with songs in Hindi and English. The result is a rare fusion of French rock and Rajasthani tradition.
