On the album *The Allfather Awakens*, Amon Amarth has crafted a definitive 10-track masterpiece that further reinforces the band’s signature crushing riffs and impenetrable sound. Following the epic tale of the opening track, "Gjallarhorn," comes the heroic "Eight Legs of Thunder"—a story set on the battlefield—while "Upphaf," based on a reversed passage from the prophetic poem *Völuspá*, marks the band’s first-ever acoustic offering.
The classic Swedish melodic death metal band adopted a new songwriting approach for *The Allfather Awakens*, their 13th album since 1998’s *Once Sent from the Golden Hall*. The album was created over two separate recording sessions, held months apart at Jacob Hansen’s studio in Denmark. Amon Amarth began writing the songs while out on tour, rather than waiting for the tour to conclude. The initial recording phase took place in the spring of 2025, with the final tracking completed in March 2026.
