Alan Reed - Grey Sky Thinking (2026) [Hi-Res]

"The album title is obviously a play on the old ‘Blue Sky thinking’ business metaphor for stepping back and taking a fresh approach. It’s an act of creative optimism.

However, the world I see around me today does not encourage optimism. If anything things feel more unsettled and dangerous than they have at any time I can remember. We’re a divided society, with people retreating more and more into their silos. We’ll believe almost anything that plays to a comforting narrative that we feel safe with. We know it’s falling apart, but seem unable to deal with it or confront it.

The songs seem to be a way of me working out those concerns."

UK composer, vocalist and instrumentalist Alan REED is based in Glasgow, Scotland. And while he has contributed to a great deal of recordings over the years, he's best known for his appearances on productions by Abel Ganz, Caamora, Neo, Parzival's Eye and Strangers on a Train. But more than anything else Reed wil be remembered for his lengthy tenure in UK band Pallas, a relationship that ended in less than ideal circumstances in 2011.

Since then Reed have worked at establishing a solo career, and following some initial single track releases and the EP "Dancing With Ghosts" 2012 saw him make his proper solo debut in October with "First in a Field of One".
