In August, Rubellan Remasters will release the American version of Frenzy, the fourth album by New Zealand band Split Enz, in a new CD edition. This reissue will be an important addition to collections: the band moves away from its early art-rock roots toward new wave and power pop. The original recording sessions featured Tim and Neil Finn, Eddie Rayner, Noel Crombie, Nigel Griggs, and Malcolm Green. In 1981, A&M Records released a special American version of Frenzy with a revised track order and remixes by Eddie Rayner, hoping to capitalize on the band’s growing international popularity. Rubellan Remasters’ Scott Davies confirms that the upcoming release will be limited to 1,000 copies in eco packaging. Other Split Enz albums may follow, as they are currently undergoing rights clearance, helping to bring order to the band’s complicated digital and physical catalog.
