English label AOR Blvd Records has become more than just a hidden gem for releasing rare treasures in recent years. Now as part of their Collectors Series we have Volume 10: the late 80s / early 90s recordings by the obscure hard rock / metal act TEACHER’S PETT.
Compiling songs recorded between 1988 – 1991 and titled “Tearing Up The Night“, the album marks the very first time the band’s rare, remastered demo tracks have been officially compiled and issued on CD.
TEACHER’S PETT formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1983 and was active until 1991 when a different Rock sound was emerging. Musically these guys were a twin-guitar 5-piece band playing traditional US melodic metal and hard rock. Their style has been described as a mix of Keel, Black N’ Blue, Lizzy Borden, with early elements of Queensrÿche.
Despite sharing stages with legendary Northwest and national metal acts like Savatage, Crimson Glory, Riot, Vicious Rumors, and Alice in Chains, TEACHER’S PETT never secured a major record contract during their run and only circulated material via underground demo tapes.
This 12-track compilation serves as a “from the vaults” archival collection built primarily from their late-’80s and early-’90s studio sessions. TEACHER’S PETT had a lot of potential, however arrived a little too late as their sharp metallic sound belongs to 1983-1984.
Tracks:
01 – It’s Over
02 – I Want You
03 – Are You Ready
04 – Don’t Let It End
05 – Dangerous
06 – Tearing Up The Night
07 – Further Away
08 – Naked And Alone
09 – Now You See Me
10 – Goodnight
11 – In The Darkness
12 – Walking With The Evil Kind
Personnel:
Mike Powers – guitar
Dave Plunkett – guitar
Tim Chapton – drums
Curt Hanks – bass
Billy Young – vocals
