Hola! Let us introduce you to Guatemalan hombre extraordinario Fabio Me Llaman Soltero. And if you think that name already sounds impressive, then wait till you hear his music!
Señor Soltero delivers his debut on Feines Tier in the form of a mini album called ESCAMA. Google translates this to „scale“, as in the skin of fish or reptiles, so we’re already on slightly slippery territory here. But let’s have Fabio guide us through this with his strong arms.
Opener LINAJE NARANJA storms right out of the gates confidently with its steady grooves, quirky synths and absurdist sound sprinkles. The baton gets passed to ROMANCE CALLER, which wouldn’t feel out of place in any Pbar set with those classic house vocal vibes, intercut by some breaks that sound like your brain finally being fed up with the limitations of your body and deciding to leave once and for all, only to stumble down a long set of stairs as a result. Magnificent!
CADERA SCI-FI’s got this Central/South American signature sound (we might call it „Comemesque“), with the intensity knob positioned on ten out of ten in the beginning and then confidently raising it to eleven. Side note: Has putting a voice sample calling out some Spanish words over a firm beat ever not worked?
Elsewhere on the album you’ve got even more Spanish clamouring, as heard in the title tune or in the amazingly titled TERMOMETRO LASER, which also features some trancy laser sounds to live up to its name. ORTHOSTATE REWINDER closes down the release on a slightly cooler temperature, inviting us to „rewind come again“. Yes, Papi!
