The family vocal group The Waller Family recorded an album in 1980 whose spirit is closer to early-1970s family soul than to the sound of its own time. It was released on the tiny Richmond label Dynamic Artists, home to only a handful of releases; at times it echoes labelmates Starfire, though the Wallers’ sound is more old-fashioned. The program mixes upbeat grooves with mellower numbers. Its defining feature is shifting harmony work: lead vocals pass from the women to the men, yet the ensemble always sounds unified. The independent nature of the release adds to its charm. The tracklist includes “Get Up & Dance”, “Without You Tonight”, “How Long Will I Be A Fool”, “I Love You So”, “What Good Is Love”, “You Don’t Miss Your Water” and “The Feelings That I Have”.
