This four-disc set brings together five symphonies recorded live during Lovro von Matacic's final visit to Japan in 1984. Matacic conducts the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Bruckner, Beethoven and Brahms, as well as his own Symphony of Confrontation. The stereo recordings come from NHK broadcast sources. According to Tower Records, Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 and Matacic's Symphony of Confrontation receive their first SACD release here.
The SACD layers were transferred to DSD in 2026 with ORT mastering from digital-tape copies of the NHK broadcast sources.
