Christopher Gordon - Macbeth (2026) Hi-Res

"Macbeth" (2026) is a large-scale studio album by Australian composer Christopher Gordon, released on October 30, 2026, on the Madfish label. The work is a dark musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy of the same name, combining progressive rock, contemporary classical music (orchestration), and jazz.

The music was originally written as a full-fledged ballet commissioned by the Royal New Zealand Ballet and the West Australian Ballet. The ballet's live stage premiere took place in early 2026. Having received critical acclaim, Christopher Gordon reworked the material into a standalone cinematic rock opera, divided into eight large-scale movements reflecting the psychological decline of the main characters.
