American pianist and composer Jim Brickman, born in Cleveland, Ohio, rose to prominence in the mid-1990s by blending pop with new age, creating romantic and uplifting instrumental pieces. He was the first solo pianist to place albums in the pop chart top 40, has released more than 20 albums that topped the Billboard New Age chart, received two Grammy nominations, and won a Dove Award. He began his career writing advertising jingles for major brands and working with Jim Henson on projects for The Muppets and Sesame Street. His debut album, No Words, came out in 1994 on Windham Hill; it was followed by By Heart, The Gift, and the Grammy-nominated Peace. Among his collaborators is Martina McBride.
To mark 30 years in music, Brickman released Jim Brickman 30th Anniversary With The World Symphony: re-recorded greatest hits in orchestral arrangements, alongside several new songs. It was recorded with the World Symphony orchestra in Greece and released as a limited-edition vinyl, on CD, and digitally. Brickman plays piano and serves as producer and arranger; he worked with Chris Phillips (production, mixing, arrangements, programming), Colin Neilson (mastering, additional production, cover art), and Steve Wingfield (additional production). The Greek contributors include Elias Koutsoulieris (engineer), John Grigoriou (bass), Dimitris Antoniadis (drums), Antonis Skokos (arrangements), and engineer Bob Heazlit. “My Dream” features vocals by Olivia Newton-John and Il Volo, and “Christmas Peace” features Luke McMaster (guitar, vocals) and John Trones (vocals).
