"Blurry Blue Mountain" is the twenty-fifth studio album by the iconic American indie rock band Giant Sand, released in the fall of 2010 by Fire Records. The digital Special Edition includes 14 original tracks and a special bonus track, "Love Letters."
Recorded to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the band's debut LP, "Valley of Rain" (1985), the album has become one of the most highly regarded works by the band's longtime leader, Howe Gelb. According to Gelb, the material was created in a liminal state between wakefulness and sleep ("like the poppy fields in The Wizard of Oz"), giving the record a hypnotic, melancholic, and intimate atmosphere, reflecting on age and the transience of time.
