People often ask me if we're ever going to slow down.
The answer is.. not yet!
I've always been fortunate to play with great musicians. Right from the beginning with Dave, Rod, Tony and Craig, and right up to the current band members. We are a band in every sense! Bryan once said that playing in a band is like having a conversation. Well, we are definitely talking to each other and having a really great time!
When we first started Foghat back in 1971, no one imagined that we'd still be out here playing this music over fifty-five years later. Yet here we are, still climbing on stage night after night, still having fun, and still meeting fans who make every show feel special. That's something I'll never take for granted.
The performances on this album were recorded in cities across the United States during the past 2 years. We didn't set out to make a live record - we simply wanted to capture Foghat doing what we've always loved to do: playing live. Most of these songs have never been released as official live recordings before, and I think they show where the band is today. Every audience brings its own personality, every night has its own surprises and that's what keeps live music exciting. If you were there, thank you for being part of it. If you weren't, I hope this album makes you feel like you are standing right there with us.
For the second part of this release, we wanted to include something that many people may not realize is also part of the Foghat story. Earl and The Agitators isn't another band - it's us. We chose a different name because it gave us the freedom to explore some of the music that's inspired us throughout our lives without people expecting another Foghat record. Blues has always been at the heart of Foghat, but so have country, roots music and good old rock & roll. On Shaken & Stirred, you'll hear all of those influences, from deep blues to our version of the Johnny Cash classic "Guess Things Happen That Way." Different name... same band, same musicians, same love of making music together. And, by the way, we are having a blast! Life is Good!
