"Back to the Front" is the second solo studio album by American folk musician, poet, and artist Bob Neuwirth, released in 1988 on the independent label Gold Castle Records.
The album marked the artist's triumphant return to studio recording after a 14-year hiatus since his 1974 debut. The material was recorded in a relaxed, almost homely atmosphere—in producer Stephen Soles's living room during the Christmas holidays. The music is filled with subtle humor, melancholy reminiscences, and ballads in the spirit of traditional American wanderlust.
