American artist Paulina Fae has released DREAMWALKERS INSTRUMENTAL, 16 atmospheric instrumental pieces on the border of ambient and dream pop. It is a reimagining of her own 2019 album DREAMWALKERS: returning to the old material, she decided to remove the vocals and see how the songs would sound in a new state of mind, envisioning a “mirrored” version of the album with different paths for the listener. The tracks have been completely reworked and remixed with sparse electronic instrumentation; pieces such as “The Dreamcatcher and the Owl” and “The Lost and Haunted” are transformed so thoroughly that they take on new moods and personalities. The sound is ethereal, airy and shimmering, filled with ghostly tones and a sense of in-between times and places, suspended between the earthly and the cosmic. Paulina’s earlier work was highly praised by Steve Davis, associate producer of the radio program Hearts of Space, who called her music a quiet masterpiece, both earthly and ethereal. The album’s imagery draws on dreams, stardust, a spaceman and a fawn moon: the music is conceived as a journey for the dreaming listener, blending tranquility with mysterious shadow.
