Manchester singer-songwriter Chloe Jones released the album “Feels Like Fiction” on 23 October 2026: ten songs about books, characters and faraway places. Her music draws on the traditions of folk, country and Americana. The lyrics work like short stories, with themes taken from literature and travel. The titles show it: “Frankenstein”, “Something Wicked”, “The White Witch of Rosehall” (a nod to a Jamaican legend), “Ship Life Shanty” (a short sea song), “Old Orchard Beach” (named after a seaside town in Maine) and “Dragonfly In Amber”.
The sound pairs an intimate core of acoustic guitar and voice with rich arrangements. It features pedal steel guitar (Scott Poley), piano and organ (Henry Rubin-Burnett), upright and electric bass, cello and trombone, while Liz Lister wrote the orchestral parts. These give the Americana a cinematic sweep. James Wyatt produced and mixed the record at Sloe Flower Studio, and Rogan Kelsey mastered it. Chloe Jones wrote and performed all the songs.
