VA - Out of Practice, Vol.2 (2026)

Standards & Practices is proud to present our second compilation, Out of Practice, Vol. 2. To mark the occasion, we've pulled out the stops, commissioning music from many favorite artists including a few new to the label.

All of the cuts here are unreleased and exclusive, and cover a variety of tempos and styles: broken techno, low slung electro, dubbed out bass weight, halftime breaks and more. We wanted to go broad, maybe as a reaction to the bland, overstuffed collections of cast-offs that seem to dominate techno comps of late.

There are many highlights to mention: Stave & Grebenstein's "Live Room” demonstrates what a collab between Pan Sonic and DAF might have sounded like; an unreleased, stripped and rhythmic Sandwell District jam (“Le Coq Sportif”), rescued from the archives; the moody, Photek-esque, broken beats of Ghost Warrior's “Second Wave”; and the meditative, dynamic dub pressure of Brendon Moeller's "A Civilized Amount of Violence" all spring to mind.

And to celebrate this milestone, we’re releasing Out of Practice, Vol. 2 on vinyl, in collaboration with our friends at Juno Records.

The release spans three separate 12”s as well as a digital version, featuring bonus tracks from label heads Talker, Stave, and Ken Meier not available on vinyl.
