VA - Outside the Lines, Vol. 8 (2026)

Co-curated with artist and composer Neil Luck, the eighth iteration of nonclassical's Outside the Lines-series tries to put a finger on a scene that easily escapes categorisation. Bringing together a seemingly disparate set of musicians who defy convention and the definable, it is a group of UK-based artists who tread the blurry line between composition, spoken word, performance art and electronic collage.

From the abstract soundscapes of Joanna & Laurie Ward to the word-and-violin attack of Mayah Kadish & Tim Cape, the hushed tones of Angela Wai Nok Hui to the metal assault of Search Engine Quartet, these 10 tracks shine a light on something that seems to be in the air at the moment: an uncategorisable newness.
