Still Falling is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Virgil Shaw, released in early 2003 on the independent American label Future Farmer Recordings (it was also released in Europe through Munich Records).
Still Falling is a truly cinematic and atmospheric record. After the dissolution of his main band, Dieselhed, Virgil Shaw focused on creating rich instrumental canvases. For the album, he enlisted an outstanding team of musicians, including Mark Eitzel (frontman of the cult American Music Club) on backing vocals, bassist Atom Ellis, and multi-instrumentalist Danny Heifetz (drummer for Mr. Bungle), who provided the unusual percussion and orchestration.
The album's songs are imbued with lyrical depth, gentle humor, and worldly wisdom. Along with the original material, Shaw includes two notable covers on the record: an experimental take on "Wilderness Of This World" (written by Talking Heads' David Byrne and country musician Terry Allen), and the album-closing Merle Haggard classic "Sing Me Back Home."
