Quinn is the debut album by Los Angeles-based drummer and composer Quinn (Quinn Smith), issued by Shiro Records in 1994. Trained at the New England Conservatory in Boston, he had spent several years as an LA session drummer and had started a production company with Lindsay Tomasic in 1990. By his own account, the album grew out of studio experiments in 1993, and a label deal followed within months.
Recorded at Astro Sound in Los Angeles, the record is written, performed and produced by Quinn, with vocals from Cynthia Biamon, Zahra and Tomasic, who also co-wrote two tracks. Shiro Gutzie served as executive producer. One cover appears: Irving Berlin’s “All Alone,” reworked.
AllMusic’s brief review hears Eastern-tinged grooves, funky soul and choral pop in an easy-listening setting. A fan-site biography places him alongside Enigma, Peter Gabriel and Loreena McKennitt. Discogs files the record under tribal and downtempo (with ambient on the UK edition), while Apple Music lists it as New Age.
Several tracks found a second life on screen: “In A Perfect World” in the short film Father, and “The Crown of Life,” “Sacred Revelation” and “Autonomous” on the Silent Trigger soundtrack (Shiro, 1996). “Sacred Revelation” was reworked for Quinn’s 1996 follow-up, Ecstasy in Avila, and received radio play.

1-1 Quinn - The Crown of Life [4:01]
