In 2025, British musician Jon Tye (known for Lo Recordings, Ocean Moon, Seahawks and MLO) was invited by the German production music library Sonoton to envision a series of releases. This gave rise to the label Open Universe, whose aim is to create and explore new worlds of sound in which to dwell and discover.
One of its first albums is Prismatic Fields, the result of a collaboration between Ocean Moon and Silver Ley, the duo of Tye and Bethany Ley. It is “metaphysical” pop from another dimension, where warm oscillations resonate to conjure a world alive with light and life. The sound leans lightly into fantasy synth and sacral medievalist electronics: harp glissandos, synth waves and enchanted vocals interweave with lush fourth world textures and clusters of rhythmic invention.
At times the music turns modern and game-like, with soundtrack moods that slip into liminal dream states close to the work of Daniel Lopatin, Susumu Yokota and Boards Of Canada. It is both functional and formless, designed to stimulate and facilitate, to inspire and motivate.
On 17 September 2026, Ocean Moon & Silver Ley will perform live alongside Sonic Boom and Alexis Taylor at the Sonoton label showcase at Schmidtchen in Hamburg.
