The Parisian band chest. has released its first full-length album, “Happy, Broken.”, on the label Howlin’ Banana. It follows their widely acclaimed debut EP, “All Good Things End”. The album was recorded at La Frette Studios in autumn 2025 and produced by the band themselves; with three trained audio engineers in the lineup, they kept the entire process in their own hands.
The sound is still rooted in raw, melodic noise rock, now enriched by clearly audible influences from industrial, techno and shoegaze. The arrangements are denser and more personal: on “Lotus Eater”, “Otto” and the single “I’m Proud”, driving rhythms collide with layers of distorted guitars and atmospheric textures, while the vocals move from aggression to vulnerability. This dynamic has already earned the band critical praise, festival slots and support shows for DITZ, Jehnny Beth, Heavy Lungs and KNIVES. “Happy, Broken.” cements chest. as a distinctive voice of the contemporary French rock scene while preserving the direct, immediate energy of their live shows.
