Katie Knipp - Take Her Down (2005)

The album's musical style is often described by critics and Katy herself as "soulful, sentient rock." At this early stage of her career, Knipp composed her songs primarily at the piano, drawing on the traditions of independent rock artists like Ani DiFranco, but generously infusing them with Southern American blues.
The album's sound relies on the contrast between Katy's strong, charismatic, and at times brash vocals, soft keyboard passages, and a tight electric backing band. The album is vibrant, dynamic, and emotionally honest, laying the foundation for her future commercial breakthrough on the Billboard Blues charts.
