British musician Darren Hayman, best known for his work with Hefner and The French, has released a surprise solo album titled "I'm Your Team," initially shared as a bonus for his Bandcamp subscribers. The record remained shelved for years due to competing projects and personal challenges, including mental health struggles and navigating his neurodivergence.
Building on the restrained, melancholic tone of his 2022 release "You Will Not Die," the album was recorded under self-imposed constraints, using only two discarded 1980s devices—a Yamaha DX7 synthesizer and a Roland TR-707 drum machine—complemented by a Rickenbacker bass. Reinterpreting outdated synth-pop and electronic gear through the lens of soul and lovers rock, Hayman transforms cold digital technology into a deeply personal backdrop for songs about grief, loss, and self-discovery.
Tracklist:
1. Darren Hayman - I Made Up My Mind
2. Darren Hayman - Darling, All the Time
3. Darren Hayman - I Will Make You New
4. Darren Hayman - I Will Paint You
5. Darren Hayman - Say if You Want Me to Stay
6. Darren Hayman - I Refuse
7. Darren Hayman - Close Your Eyes and Face the Sun
8. Darren Hayman - Words Fall Out of Me
9. Darren Hayman - Make Love Stay
10. Darren Hayman - I'm Your Team
