Jamz Supernova - Jamz Supernova presents Dance Around The World (2026) [Hi-Res]

BAND/ARTIST: Jamz Supernova

BBC 6Music presenter, DJ and Future Bounce label head Jamz Supernova has released the compilation Dance Around The World on Mr Bongo. It grew out of her radio show of the same name, her event series and her Bandcamp community. The concept took shape in the summer of 2025 but has been part of Jamz’s musical journey throughout her 15-year career, from Reprezent Radio through a 1Xtra residency to her current Saturday daytime show on 6Music. She has long been driven to bring music from underrepresented scenes to new audiences.

Sixteen tracks, many of them exclusive, are arranged as a 24-hour voyage around the globe, moving from downtempo to the dancefloor: Réunion Island, Latin America, East Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Every artist and scene is one Jamz has a personal connection to, with no input from algorithms or AI, and each track carries a story of heritage and roots while pushing toward new sounds. The record is split into two sides marking two interconnected moods. A percussive thread, set by the opening track, runs through the whole release, with the drum patterns offering insight into each song’s origins.

The Day side is sun-soaked and rooted in activism, storytelling and heritage. It opens with “Bittersweet” by Equiknoxx founder Gavsborg and dub educator Riddim Writer, as Groundsound. The all-female Maloya group SIMANGAVOLE then teams up with SOA RAVELO for a hypnotic, communal song. London-based South African DJ and producer Esa Williams offers a love letter to Cape Town, Oruã from Rio delivers beats-heavy garage rock, Célia Wa fuses traditional Guadeloupean grooves with jazz and hip hop, and Verito Asprilla from Tumaco, on Colombia’s Pacific coast, brings the future-facing reggaeton heater “Quiero Ser Buena”.

As night falls, the rhythms grow rowdier and the basslines heavier. Jako Maron blends his Réunion Island roots with a chugging synth soundscape in an electronic remix. The duo Jus Now (Trinidadian percussionist Keshav and UK producer Sam Interface) melds UK bass with Caribbean drum-heavy flavour. Sam and Jamz, with Lateena on the mic and Moses Boyd on drums, then make the fierce dancehall production “Tan Toddy”, seen through the lens of UK bashment. Jamz was trusted to A&R “Sin Africa”, where Brenda’s pumping, heads-down Latin club sound meets a deeper message in Diva Cruz’s lyrics.

That undercurrent runs through many tracks. Jamz says almost everyone on the compilation has been touched or altered in some way by colonisation, and that they choose joy and celebrate what they have and have done, without ignoring the colonised past. The theme echoes in Mokotron’s closing track. The compilation is conceived as a sonic celebration connecting cultures and scenes, expanding boundaries while honouring those who came before.
