The album "He Was A Friend of Mine" is an archival anthology that immerses the listener in the atmosphere of the Swedish underground of the 1980s. The release brings together the best studio singles, rare demos, and raw, energetic live performances of The Backdoor Men.
The album sounds like a true monument to the Garage Rock Revival era that swept Europe and the US in the 1980s. The Backdoor Men didn't try to sound contemporary for their time (in the spirit of '80s synth-pop or heavy metal)—instead, they recreated the aesthetics and rebellious spirit of 1964–1967 with utmost precision and passion.
