New York duo Ida, formed in the early 1990s by Daniel Littleton and Elizabeth Mitchell, released their debut album Tales of Brave Ida in 1994, but real attention came only in 1996 with the second record, I Know About You. It is regarded as the duo’s best work, and the label Numero bills it as “the only break-up record you’ll ever need to own.” For its 30th anniversary, the album has been remastered and reissued by Numero. The music belongs to slowcore and sits somewhere between Low, Damon & Naomi and the Innocence Mission. The album rests on the interplay of two voices, Mitchell and Littleton. They keep things measured throughout and only occasionally let emotion spill over into moans reminiscent of emo. The special edition includes photos and new liner notes, and the deluxe version adds a bonus LP of 13 unreleased demos, outtakes and alternate mixes.
