Barebones (2014) is an elegant, distinctly chamber work by Canadian musician Murray Gardiner. The title of the album (“Bare Bones”) literally reflects its concept: minimalistic, extremely honest sound, cleared of unnecessary studio overdubs and synthetic processing. Recorded with an emphasis on organic acoustics, the release focuses on poetic storytelling, subtle guitar fingerpicking and an intimate, confessional interaction between the vocals and the space of the room.
