The Charlottetown band Gizmo plays indie rock and power-pop rooted in the guitar-damaged melodies of 1990s American slacker bands and the related scene on Canada's east coast. They are something of a "120 Minutes band" for Gen Z: a vintage aesthetic combined with distinctive songwriting and a frenetic live show.
Their debut full-length, All Your Worships, is released on October 2, 2026. It continues the energy of the 2023 EP Buddy System, while making the song structures more ambitious and adding more unexpected twists. It was recorded in a converted community hall in Great Village, Nova Scotia, with co-producers Alex Edkins (METZ, Weird Nightmare) and Loel Campbell (Wintersleep). The band worked 12-hour days, slept at the studio, and ended their evenings with shared listening sessions. Their overlapping tastes gave them a common language for discussing sound and direction.
The album's main touchpoints are Guided By Voices and Pavement, but the gothic jangle of R.E.M. and the jagged Americana of Silver Jews and Red House Painters also surface in places. Edkins and Campbell mixed the record, and Greg Obis (Stuck, Clearance) mastered it at Chicago Mastering Service.
