The musical and poetic archive of Camille O’Grady—a prominent figure in 1970s New York underground, drag king, and punk poet—receives its first official release via Dark Entries. Camille O’Grady was a vital part of the CBGB scene, sharing the stage with Television alongside her band Leather Secrets, while catching the attention of artists like David Bowie and Lou Reed.
Her trajectory was tightly interwoven with the queer and BDSM subcultures of New York and San Francisco, spanning iconic spaces such as the Mineshaft and The Ambush. Following the 1979 murder of her partner, performance artist Robert Opel, her multidisciplinary output across text, visual art, and audio remained unreleased until after her death in 2020.
The retrospective compiled by Dark Entries features thirteen recordings, including two unreleased Los Angeles studio tracks intended for a 7-inch single and a live set recorded at The Ambush in 1979.
