In the Shadow of this Evil Tower (2026) is a cinematic concept album by multi-instrumentalist Egil McDougall, immersing the listener in a grim world of medieval dark fantasy and gothic tales. The musician weaves together the hypnotic minimalism of early dungeon synth with the exquisite arrangements of pastoral and progressive folk. The release's conceptual thread tells the story of a long, perilous siege of an ancient, cursed citadel, where each instrument functions as a distinct character or atmospheric detail in the narrative.
