French singer-songwriter Andréel has released his ninth studio album, Quai de Loire, recorded fully acoustic at the historic Studios Ferber in Paris. The project continues the artist's signature blending of chanson française and bossa nova, carrying an orchestration deeply rooted in warm 1970s acoustic aesthetics.
Thematic foundations of the album revolve around romantic nostalgia, affection, and Parisian urban imagery, spanning locations from the Bassin de la Villette to quiet local cafes. Andréel composed the music and wrote most of the lyrics, while incorporating literary adaptations: "Je ne suis personne" draws inspiration from a novel by Romanian writer Alexandra Badea, and "Jamais plus" sets the poetry of Isild Le Besco to music. Following his previous duet with actress Judith Chemla, Andréel collaborates with actress Clara Ponsot on this record. The instrumentation, performed alongside long-time core collaborators Nicolas Parent, Sébastien Lovato, and Elaine Beaumont, features piano, Fender Rhodes, double bass, and strings, complemented by the subtle vibraphone textures of David Neerman.
