Back To The Mountains (1974) is a key release in the discography of The New Strangers, a band formed after the reorganization of the popular Australian-British folk group The Strangers (which John Farnham once joined). The album reflects the folk scene's characteristic mid-1970s transition from a clean, acoustic sound to a richer, more electrified country rock and melodic art pop. Recorded with the impeccable production quality of the EMI era, Back To The Mountains is imbued with pastoral nostalgia, themes of a return to roots, nature, and spiritual harmony.
