Composer Philip Glass crafted a profound piano and string score for Stephen Daldry's film The Hours, based on Michael Cunningham's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. The composition incorporates elements from Glass's seminal minimalist works, including Satyagraha, Glassworks, and Solo Piano. Performed by pianist Michael Riesman, the Lyric Quartet string ensemble, and conducted by Nick Ingman, the soundtrack serves as a unifying element across the narratives of three women in different eras, portrayed by Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, and Meryl Streep. Richly arranged within the realms of modern classical and film score, the music works alongside Peter Boyle's editing to connect the dramatic threads inspired by Virginia Woolf's literature.
