In the early 1960s, artist Chris Montez, following in the footsteps of Ritchie Valens within the Chicano rock movement, recorded the youthful rock 'n' roll single "Let's Dance." Reaching number four on the US charts in 1962, the track captivated listeners with its masterful dance groove and cool, pure vocal delivery, which stood out amidst the more frenetic dance records of the era. The song was later covered by the punk band The Ramones, cementing its status as a canonical garage rock masterpiece. The single's success led to the release of a full-length album, marking a defining early chapter for Montez before his eventual shift toward a smoother soft pop style on A&M. This landmark release has now been reissued in a paper-sleeve CD edition.
