Canadian guitarist, producer, and composer Jesse Cook, a prominent figure in nuevo flamenco and flamenco fusion, presents his studio album Past the Breakwater, released via Coach House Music. Serving as the successor to his 2021 record Libre, the album reflects the evolution of his instrumental style, positioned at the intersection of flamenco traditions, Latin rumba, and broader world music influences.
The acoustic landscape of the record relies on intricate rhythms, virtuous guitar performance, and multi-layered arrangements. A centerpiece of the release is the lead single Doves, featuring guest vocals from Canadian-Tunisian singer Emel Mathlouthi, whose performance adds a distinct Middle Eastern atmosphere and emotional depth to the piece. The new material anchors the upcoming Past the Breakwater World Tour, spanning venues across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
