Bernard Parmegiani - Violostries (2020) [Hi-Res]

BAND/ARTIST: Bernard Parmegiani

French composer Bernard Parmegiani, through the Recollection GRM reissue series, presents an archival compilation of landmark electroacoustic compositions situated at the intersection of avant-garde, musique concrète, and modern classical.

The piece "Violostries" (1963/64), premiered by violinist Devy Erlih alongside Parmegiani at the Royan Festival, investigates the dialogue between an acoustic instrument and recorded media. Through spatial processing, the violin performance is transformed into a dense network of microsounds and a continuous evolution of sonic matter.

The works "Capture éphémère" (1967) and "La Roue Ferris" (1971) focus on the ephemeral nature of noise, spatial acoustics, and cyclical resonance. Within these pieces, environmental microsounds—ranging from breathing and subtle rustles to acoustic simulations of mechanical rotation—are reshaped into layered electronic and microsound textures that blur the boundary between synthetic and organic soundscapes.
