Vol. 4 turned out to be highly diverse. It features tight deep funk, Hammond-driven grooves, afrobeat, modern soul, and plenty of material packed with Record Kicks' signature club energy. At the same time, each track maintains its own distinct identity. The result is a quintessential Record Kicks compilation that draws on classic funk and soul yet sounds completely modern.SoulShaker Vol. 4 serves as a prime example of the era when European independent labels were actively shaping a new wave of interest in deep funk, soul, and afrobeat.
