Shane Morris - Tenochtitlan To Etzanoa (2026) [Hi-Res]

BAND/ARTIST: Shane Morris

American percussionist and ambient composer Shane Morris releases Tenochtitlan to Etzanoa via Spotted Peccary Music, an album dedicated to the ancient cultural and trade corridors of the pre-Columbian Americas between Tenochtitlan and Etzanoa. Drawing inspiration from Indigenous traditions and the heritage of ethno-ambient pioneers Jorge Reyes, Steve Roach, Carlos Nakai, and Tribu, the record is constructed as a modern ritual of acoustic and ceremonial listening.

The sonic framework of the seven-track release completely eschews drum machines and sequencers in favor of live performance. Hand-played polyrhythms from wooden drums and traditional percussion form the foundation, interwoven with wind instruments, vocal invocations, and layered chants. Synthesizers function not as a replacement for acoustic elements, but as an atmospheric backdrop of spatial drone textures and deep resonance, operating at the intersection of tribal ambient, ethno-ambient, and meditative music.
