Pianist and composer Chris McCarthy marks a decade of living in New York City with his fifth studio album as a bandleader, Too Late To Quit, set for release on September 18, 2026, via La Reserve. Recorded with his working quintet featuring trumpeter Takuya Kuroda, saxophonist Eden Bareket, bassist Sam Minaie, and drummer Steven Crammer, alongside frequent collaborator vocalist Vanisha Gould, the 8-track album serves as a reflection of McCarthy's artistic journey in the city.
Conceived as an exploration of contemporary standards inspired by the Great American Songbook tradition, the project weaves together thoughtful arrangements, poetic lyricism, and modern jazz harmonies. Drawing from personal trials, professional milestones, and longstanding creative partnerships, Too Late To Quit captures McCarthy's refined compositional voice and highlights the vibrant community of musicians surrounding him.
