Multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Eje Eje, also known for his work with Şatellites, has released his five-track solo EP “Mezze”. Conceptually inspired by the Mediterranean tradition of sharing small dishes, outdoor trips, and gathering around a "Turkish campfire", the record balances spatial minimalism with unhurried tempos as an antidote to modern overproduced music. Recorded primarily in his home studio with guest appearances by Romano (Farfisa organ), drummers Lotan Yaish (Şatellites) and Guy Ben Ami (Boom Pam), and mixed by Shuzin, the project focuses on spacious grooves and organic instrumentation.
Across “Mezze”, Eje Eje weaves together 1970s Turkish psychedelia, organic hip hop, Arabic oud, electric bağlama, Gulf rhythms, Greek folk melodies, West African pentatonics, and Brazilian percussion. The tracks range from relaxed breakbeats ("Yemen Eye") and vibrant Mediterranean organ jams ("Pickled Pine Cones") to hypnotic psychedelic rock ("Phantom Love") and ceremonial rhythmic builds ("Rising Fire From The Liver"), offering a 20-minute immersive listening space designed for contemplation and stillness.
Tracklist:
1. Eje Eje - Beja Flor
2. Eje Eje - Yemen Eye
3. Eje Eje - Pickled Pine Cones
4. Eje Eje - Phantom Love
5. Eje Eje - Rising Fire From The Liver
