Mexican group Antorcha remains one of the most compelling hidden gems of the 1970s Mexico underground scene. The band's sonic identity was shaped by the heavy psychedelic sound of Iron Butterfly, Blue Cheer, Vanilla Fudge, and the early proto-metal of Black Sabbath. Politically and aesthetically, the act mirrored the stance of MC5, sharing their raw countercultural energy and anti-establishment spirit.
The core of Antorcha's output consisted of rare self-released 7-inch singles pressed between 1971 and 1976. A comprehensive archival compilation gathers these obscure small-run EPs alongside previously unreleased studio tracks, offering a complete overview of their work within hard rock, psychedelic rock, acid rock, and proto-punk. The reissue features an insert containing archival photographs and detailed liner notes by researcher Carlos Icaza "Tropicaza".
