In 1978, the British musical act operating under the short-lived name Plimsollline recorded a body of work intended as a counterpart to Tap Dancing in Slush. Shortly after completing the sessions, the project officially adopted the moniker Renaldo & The Loaf. These early archival recordings captured the defining spirit and sound of experimental rock, avant-garde post-punk, and tape-loop manipulation that would later become the signature style of the group.
The material remained unreleased in the archives for thirty-six years until 2014, when the Austrian independent label Klanggalerie issued the recordings for the first time as part of a deluxe double-CD collection pairing both historic sessions together.
