The Sun That Lies Behind (2020) is a profound and atmospheric solo effort by independent American musical explorer Chris Ford. Released during the global lockdown of 2020, the album is imbued with reflection, contemplative melancholy, and a search for hidden light amid uncertainty ("The sun that lies behind..."). The record is a restrained yet sonically rich canvas, where the classic acoustic foundation of folk music is enriched with experimental indie rock elements and cinematic sonic textures.
